New entrant into the online estate agency market

Makeurmove.co.uk – a leading online letting agent, is launching a property sales service which will offer more choice to property owners across the UK and help grow the online agency market.

Recent stats show that online agents listed over 6,000 properties on Rightmove in 2013, accounting for 5.5 per cent of all those listed.

Makeurmove.co.uk was the original online letting agent set up in 2006 and the firm has successfully let thousands of private residential properties for landlords all over the UK. It has led the pace of innovation in the property rental sector, driving down costs for both landlords and tenants.

Now, the firm has its sights firmly on the residential sales market. Richard Francis, Director of Makeurmove.co.uk comments: “It’s still early days for the online agencies, but we have a great opportunity to grow the market. The key challenge is to educate property owners that there is a low cost alternative to high street agents.

“Up until recently, vendors had no choice but to pay huge fees and put up with a poor service from their agent. In essence, many vendors have been ripped off. The estate agency market has been slow to adapt and change in line with changing consumer behavior. What’s more, for years, agents have struggled to convince vendors that they are offering a value for money service.

“With the growth of Rightmove and Zoopla, property owners have recognised that the internet is the first port of call for the majority of buyers. More and more property owners are turning to online agents for a low-cost alternative to traditional agents, having been often recommended from friends and family. It’s a win-win for vendors – they pay significantly less for the service and the agent will sell their property in the same way as a high street agent.

“We aim to take a significant share of the online market as it matures and more property owners move away from traditional high street agents. It is inevitable that over the next 10 years, we will see a huge rise in the number of properties on the market that are listed by online estate agents.”

Makeurmove.co.uk is charging a fixed fee of £395 plus VAT, with the price including listing on Right move and Zoopla.
