National Landlords Association launches Green Deal service

The National Landlords Association has launched a Green Deal service.

In partnership with providers MITIE and United Legal Services, it follows a similar move last year by the Residential Landlords Association, and aims to provide landlords with a hassle-free all-in-one solution.

Landlords of properties which fall into the two lowest bands for EPC ratings stand to have them banned from the market in 2018. To prevent that happening, they must either have lifted their property’s ratings or carried out the measures proposed.

Richard Lambert, chief executive officer of the NLA, said: “The Government’s Green Deal initiative highlights how important it is that the UK’s housing stock is energy efficient.

“Landlords only have a few years to comply with the scheme until their hands will be forced. And with the private-rented sector playing such a prominent role in the provision of housing, this is a key opportunity for them to prove they are able to self-regulate.

“We encourage all landlords with properties in need of energy efficiency improvements to take advantage of the Green Deal.”
