A landlord is offering a three-bed house rent-free if the tenant will renovate it.
The end-of-terrace in Darlington has apparently less than desirable features such as holes in the walls, cat mess on the floor, and no garage (burnt down by a previous tenant).
Lying empty, it has been broken into by thieves who ripped out pipes and wiring.
Now landlords Jax and David Ayton are offering the property rent-free, and will pay for the materials if the tenant will do the actual work and has the skills to do so.
When the work is done, the Aytons plan to renegotiate the rent at around £450 a month.
Now, what could possibly go wrong?
Anyone else foresee the longest renovation project in history?
