Campaigning RLA scoops top award for third year

The Residential Landlords Association has been crowned the ‘Association of the Year’ at the 2012 Landlord & Letting Awards – for the third successive year.

RLA director Andy Burton also won Landlord of the Year, and its website gained a special commendation.

The award, which was received by chairman Alan Ward (pictured), crowns an outstanding year for the RLA, which has seen membership numbers reach a record 15,000.

Judges were impressed by a number of initiatives by the RLA which include the launch of Homes for Britain, a major campaign lobbying for housing to be placed at the heart of the political agenda, plus campaigning at local level to improve standards in the private rental sector without having to resort to red tape.

Ward said: “The whole of the RLA is focused on service to our members.

“It is great to have the recognition of the private rented sector industry that it’s a job well done, and encourages us to keep striving to ensure the landlords’ voice is heard effectively in Westminster and every council in the UK.

“As our third consecutive award, it marks the consistency and pre-eminence of RLA in a very competitive market.”
