The Landlord Investment Shows are a series of events that take place across the U.K. each year.
Organised by the husband and wife landlord and entrepreneurial team, Tracey and Steve Hanbury, the shows have now racked up some impressive statistics:
Since their inception in 2013, over the course of 61 events, the show has delivered:
All the shows offer an amazing platform for landlords to network, learn, and meet with providers of products and services for landlords.
From their humble beginnings in 2013, Tracey and Steve have built a vibrant and progressive event that makes for a truly valuable day out.
As Tracey explains:
“We started the National Landlord Investment Show as a regional show after seeing a huge gap in the market where we could offer landlords a great event that would help them grow and retain their portfolios.”
“We chose buy-to-let hotspots throughout the UK and then set up the shows in these locations. We looked at our own experience of being fairly new into the market place and thought it would be a great idea to provide a platform where new and seasoned landlords could attend a one-day event in their area, providing them with the opportunity to meet with leading suppliers and attend seminars to gain valuable information.”
Since then, the duo have grown into a national company, running their events in major cities. This includes three events per year at London Olympia, each attracting over 4,000 UK portfolio landlords. The shows also land in Manchester, Cardiff, and Liverpool, as well as running in some regional areas.
“The shows are all about getting out there and seeing what is going on in the industry. Things change so quickly that it’s vital for landlords to stay one step ahead.” Tracey explains.
“We aim to put on a varied programme which includes exhibitors, seminars and expert advice to cater to all needs”, adds Steve. “We’ve also found that it can be difficult for landlords to interact with each other, learn from one another’s mistakes and make friends with people in a similar situation. The National Landlord Investment provides the platform for this”.
As another show season draws to a close, the National Landlord Investment Show lands at London Olympia on the 6th of November - the finale of the UK tour.
Registration levels are at an all time high and the seminar and panel debate programme has some innovative sessions, including the “Build to Rent vs. Buy to Let” debate, a seminar about avoiding “nightmare tenants” with Paul Shamplina of Landlord Action, and the return of the popular “Expert Panel Debate”. This takes place in the Main Auditorium from 10.00 - 11.15am and features Gavin Seaholme of Shawbrook Bank, Steve Harriot, CEO of the Tenancy Deposit Scheme, and Sarah Davidson, from the MailOnline’s money section, This Is Money.
The 6th November Show is also bringing a first, as, in collaboration with Property Tribes, the show presents a panel debate where several different interests and views of the private rented sector are represented.
The new “Government Intervention in the PRS debate” includes panellists David Smith, Policy Director of the Residential Landlords Association, Karen Buck MP, Landlord and Tenant Tax campaigner James Fraser, and Jasmine Basran from housing charity Crisis.
This promises to be an interesting debate as it seeks to find common ground where all parties can work together to improve standards in the PRS.
This session takes place from 11.45am to 12.30pm in Seminar Room 4, and is run on a “first come, first served” basis - so arrive early to secure your seat!
The panel debate is being hosted by Vanessa Warwick of Property Tribes, who caught up with show organiser Tracey Hanbury at the last show at Olympia in June to hear about the Hanbury’s business journey to date, which is celebrating the 5th birthday of the shows throughout 2018:
