Our Story

In 2008 landlords had only the choice of doing it themselves or entrusting their properties to a traditional agency. The latter often led to high fees, limited control and poor service to the tenants. The former resulted in landlords struggling to keep up with regulatory and legislative changes.

MakeUrMove was established as the original online letting agent to provide an alternative solution. The focus was simple; reduce costs for landlords and make the process more efficient. Since 2008 we have worked with over 25,000 landlords and over 210,000 tenants. In that time, we have successfully let thousands of private residential properties for landlords all over the UK.

Our service is supported by an award-winning platform and our mission is to bring landlords and tenants together through people-focused technology. We provide expert advice and 24-hour access for landlords and tenants alike. It has been our goal to bring clarity and fairness to the industry and supportive to all parties.

In 2012 we expanded our services to include a full property management and rent collection solution. We have grown our portfolio over the years, successfully demonstrating that with the right expertise, support and technology, it is entirely possible to run this type of business from a central office without a local presence.

With a wide network of partners, MakeUrMove can offer a full service across the whole of the UK, we are members of Safe Agent, ARLA and RLA. We subscribe to The Property Ombudsman redress scheme and offer client money protection.

Our passion for the industry drives us to stay on top of the changes so we may support our clients and help them do what they do best.

In 2013 MakeUrMove began building the first rent recognition service for tenants. This enabled tenants to have their timely rent payments recorded on their credit files. The service was launched under the name Credit Ladder to our tenants in 2016. Shortly after the launch, MakeUrMove was acquired by a London-based family investment fund. Credit Ladder was relocated to London and established as a separate company.

Our plan is to continue developing our platform and service to promote good landlords and support them in providing a much-needed source of property to the private residential sector.
